13. Karen Rodriguez
Nobody should ever sing Mariah Carey’s Hero ever, in life, and certainly not on American Idol. And as if it could get any worse, she sang half of it in Spanish. Can you say gimmick? Either sing it all in Spanish, or don’t. Get noticed for having a good voice, not for doing something gimmicky.
12. James Durbin
Something about this guy just rubs us the wrong way. He looks dirty, like literally unclean. His voice is okay, but he’s basically just a poor man’s Adam Lambert. And if Adam Lambert didn’t win, there’s no way this guy will. Go wash your hands.
11. Ashton Jones
She’s got the likability, the spunk, and the personality, but she doesn’t really have the voice.
10. Paul McDonald
He’s got that Alanis Morissette singer/songwriter vibe. He also has her “flinchy hand when I perform” thing. His voice is just okay, but it’s nice, and we’re excited to hear more.
9. Haley Reinhart
She hasn’t peaked, and most people can’t stand her, but we see major potential and a huge voice in there somewhere. We just hope she can show it soon.
8. Stefano Langone
He’s got a good voice, but he’s also extremely forgettable. Seems a bit all over the place, but when he’s good, he’s good.
7. Naima Adedapo
She brings some major diversity and color to the show. We loved her in the earlier rounds, but we’re not sure she can bring back that voice we loved in the audition rounds. Song choice and consistency will be everything for this girl.
6. Scotty McCreery
This kid has that aw-shucks classic country singer written all over him, and he’s adorable. Girls and gay boys all over the country will be falling in love with him. He has some strange appeal, but it’ll be interesting to see what he does when he can’t sing country every week.
5. Jacob Lusk
Speaking of gay boys, this guy can sing. He probably has the best voice of all the guys, but we’re not sure he has the mass appeal to make it all the way.
4. Casey Abrams
He’s trying to redefine sexy. We’re not sure about that, but we are sure that this guy has some major likability and personality swinging his way.
3. Lauren Alaina
We haven’t seen anyone with this much star potential since Carrie Underwood, and Lauren is like the perfect mix between Kelly Clarkson and Underwood. We think they struck gold with this girl. As long as she can give us some good performances, she’ll likely win.
2. Pia Toscano
We had no idea she could sing as well as she did on girls night. She probably gave one of the best performances in Idol history, but it’s not even the top 13 week yet, so where does she go from here? We mistook her for a pretty girl with an average voice, but she seriously blew us away. Major potential here.
1. Thia Megia
We absolutely adore this girl’s voice. Some critics are saying she’s trying to be too old for her age, but when you’re good, you’re good, and we don’t think her age should be held against her. Thia can sing, and probably has the most controlled voice of the bunch. Get this girl on the radio asap.
Singing in Spanish isn’t a gimmick, it’s a language…asshole.
I think it’s a gimmick. It’s a gimmick when you’re doing it to get noticed.
Totally agree. Thought it was gimmicky but didn’t wanna say anything cause I also thought I’d be offending someone. However, Thia as number1? Not so sure. Pia and Lauren all the way for me.
