Hit/Shit List

Hit

1. Cheryl Cole- Fight For This Love

All the makings of a classic uplifting anthemic pop song. Former member of Euro smash girl group Girls Aloud is definitely aiming for something original. Also check out tracks Parachute and 3 Words if you’re looking for something a little more edgy.

2. True Blood Season 2 on DVD

The show really found it’s footing and balance between hokey vampire show and legit HBO drama in it’s 2nd season. Season 3 Starts in two weeks.

3. Lonestar Trailer on FOX

This new fall show on FOX looks more like it should be on HBO or Showtime, and that’s a very good thing. Here’s hoping FOX can get a hit that doesn’t involve dancing teenagers or Jack Bauer.

4. Inception Trailer

The Matrix meets The Bourne Identity. If I can’t have my Sci Fi fix from Lost anymore, I’m going to need some A+ movies to give me that fill. I don’t really know what this is about. Hopefully this can fill some of the void.

5. The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Finale

I’ll say it again, and be chastised later. This really is one of the best shows on TV. Get over your pre conceived notions of vampires, the CW and teen shows already and just give it a chance. Not that it needs you anyway. But you’re seriously missing out. This finale was absolute genius in every way. It literally left me speechless

6. Mad Men Season 3 on DVD

It’s been out for a little while, but if you want to call yourself legit in the TV shows you watch, Mad Men is an absolute must. It’s kind of like the antithesis of Lost in many ways. Not that either are good or bad (they’re both great) but sometimes for totally different reasons. Season 4 starts in August, so you best catch up now.

7. Pixie Lott- Turn It Up CD

Euro pop import is sort of like a mix of Lady Gaga and Adele. One listen to Cry My Out, Mama Do or My Love and you’ll definitely be looking for more, and wondering why she hasn’t made it in the States yet.

8. Running Wilde Trailer on FOX

Again, Fox with their new fall shows. I’m impressed with this one as well. Felicity, I mean Keri Russell stars with Will Arnett about two old flames coming together after years of being apart to find out they are complete opposites. There’s a lot more to this also. Check out the trailer. Looks like a new Arrested Development. Can I be happier to see Keri Russell and Will Arnett back on TV…together?

9. Nikki Minaj

Hands down, the best and pretty much only female rapper to make an impact on the music industry since Lil Kim. She’s legit talented, fun, and her boatload of songs are fantastic. Where this girls first LP is, I have no idea. But she needs to get one out soon.

10. Lost Series Finale

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but the series finale to one of the most mysterious, interesting, and beloved shows of my generation ended with an uplifting, yet sad and tortured finale. The entire 2 and a half hours was epic. The writers managed to figure out a way to end on a positive note, but also let us know that all of our characters who died, did die. And everyone who lived, had to live the rest of their lives without some of the people they loved. Plus the obvious candidate, Jack, wasn’t actually the true protector of the island, it was actually Hurley and Ben. Tragic, heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting all at the same time.

Shit

1. Outsourced Trailer on NBC

I cannot stress enough how unintentionally insulting and just straight up stupid this show looks. It really feels like an excuse to make fun of Indian people, which is truly absurd. NBC’s brilliant decision to hold Parks and Recreation til mid season to air this? Major fail. I seriously hope, more than anything next season, that this show fails miserably.

2. MacGruber

Awful writing. Awful acting. Ridiculous idea to turn this into a film. The only slightly redeeming thing about this is Kristen Wiig. I understand if there are people who find this funny. I just simply hope movie audiences are smarter than this.

3. Lindsay Lohan

She still exists. And we’re still hearing things about her. Alcohol monitoring bracelet? Really? Unless you’ve decided to clean yourself up and make a decent movie…not interested.

4. Romantic Comedy Sitcoms on Fall Lineup

There are entirely too many, and most don’t look like anything worth seeing. Running Wilde looks good. Love Bites could go either way. But Happy Endings, Friends With Benefits, Perfect Couples, Mixed Signals and Mike and Molly all look seriously terrible. Do these networks really think all this stuff could actually last entire seasons? Let alone an entire series? Haven’t we seen enough Friends and How I Met Your Mother?

5. Shrek Forever After

Go ahead, crucify me, but I didn’t care for this Shrek. It’s certainly not the best one and it’s only slightly good. While not terrible by any means, the whole thing just felt very forced for me.
